Hex Mountain Snowshoe

Yesterday we went out to Cle Elm (about 2 hr drive) and attempted to hike to the summit of Hex Mountain.  Unfortunately, it had rained a few times and it made the trail very crusty.  Meaning?  It became very hard to see where others went before us and the original trail was pretty much 'washed' away.  We didn't make it to the top, but we did get some wonderful views and a great workout as it was very steep.  We are looking forward to going back and finding the rest of the trail--we were so close too!!  We had company today:  the blond is Barbara who went last time....and the dark hair girl is Danielle.  We ended up having a blast just walking around exploring the area.  Some of the hills were very, very steep and we were able to slide down them on our butts.  We plan on investing in some cheap plastic sleds!

Chip's Knee 9 months Post Op

Chip had his 9 month post op check with his surgeon today.  Things are looking great!  Thought I would share the before and after x rays.  It's pretty amazing to see, especially the standing x ray as it shows how much straighter his leg looks.  Surgeon says just 1 yr check ups from here on out!

Mount Margret Snowshoe

Terah and I headed out for another snowshoe.  Had a great time as usual.  The weather held out for us.  We did get a light snow at our turn around spot but it made it really pretty!  Terah's long time pal, Barbara, joined in the fun.  It was her first snowshoe and I think we brought her in on a tough one.  We did 6.5 miles round trip but the elevation gain was more than our first hike at 2000 feet.  So it was endless up, up, up after the first mile.  Switchbacks in snowshoes should be illegal.  We had to share the trail with snowmobiles which made the day stinkier and louder than I would have liked.  A highlight for me was a group of fellow 'shoers' that had a Brittney.  She was so beautiful and looked so much like our beloved Darcy.  She ran up and down that trail so many times she must have covered 4 times the total trail length.

New Blog

Hey! My friend, Terah, and I started a blog just about our hikes.  We'll be blogging about favorite sites, finding difficult trail heads (we searched for 1 for 45 minutes one time) and just little things we find amusing.  So if you want to be a follower of that....go ahead. It just takes a second. I will still share my pictures here as well.

It's an Arizona Christmas

We headed down to see Chip's parents plus Kelly and her family for Christmas.  We had a great time all together.  The weather did not cooperate the entire trip, but we did get to see some sun and feel warmer than we normally do!  Chip wore shorts as much as he possibly could!  It would be great if we could make it a tradition!

Our hotel room view....it was so nice...wish it was warmer so I could have gone for a swim!

The Lion King

The girls went up to Vegas for a showing of The Lion King.  It was wonderful and amazing!  The music, the actors, the dancing and singing was all top notch!  Kelly did a great job picking out seats....center, center, center so the view couldn't have been more perfect.  Jessica's jaw didn't close until intermission and I think her eyes popped back in her skull about half way home.  If you haven't seen it, it's worth the trip!

Jess was pretty wiped out by the end!
